This CURT hitch extension is designed to fit a 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. It extends the receiver by 7", though it is not intended for towing a trailer. The tongue weight capacity is limited to the capacity of the hitch. This dual-function ball mount converts your standard trailer hitch receiver into a multipurpose towing accessory. It not only provides a trailer ball platform for towing a trailer but also has an extra receiver tube to accept the shank of a bike rack, cargo carrier or other hitch-mounted accessory. This specialized CURT receiver adapter converts a 2-1/2" x 2-1/2" receiver tube opening to a 2" x 2" opening. It offers a gross trailer weight capacity of 4,500 lbs. and a tongue weight capacity of 450 lbs., and when combined with a weight distribution hitch, it offers 6,000 lbs. GTW and 600 lbs. TW. It also has the option to be cut down from its 34" length to 24", increasing its weight carrying capacity to 6,000 lbs. and its tongue weight to 600 lbs.
